Upcoming festivities / column Benjamin Herman

After having developed pink eye from trying to finally learn how to sight read for an upcoming project with the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble (Nl Wind Ensemble), several tics and other compulsive behavior from trying and failing to emulate the sound of pianist Sam Harris for the upcoming tour with Ben van Gelder‘s quintet, after finding out that classical musicians are a lot better at making music than jazz ones by practicing Morton Feldman with pianist Helena Basilova and feeling more and more insignificant with each bar of classical music that I’ve tried to analyse over the summer (very brainy, indeed), I can safely say I am more or less ready for the upcoming season and very much looking forward to it. See tour dates here.

Furthermore, I have started writing for my third studio album, to be recorded in Januari and Februari 2014. It will be released late March 2014, and will once again feature The More Socially Relevant Jazz Music Ensemble, as well as some very special guests, livestock and small percussion.

Also, I’m proud to announce I will be a regular guest teacher at the Codarts Conservatory of Rotterdam this year, as well as continuing to be a member of the jazz faculty at ArtEZ Conservatory Enschede.

Some extremely kind words by none other than saxophonist Benjamin Herman can be read below, in his column (in Dutch) about TMSRJME.
