On sunday, the incomprehensibly wise people of the Edison jury announced that we have won the Edison Jazz National Award for our record ‘Mostly Improvised Instrumental Indie Music’. For the occasion, Daniel Jamieson arranged two of my compositions for the extremely famous Metropole Orchestra, with whom I get to perform during the Edison gala on November 21st. Thank you to everyone who was involved in the record, especially Maarten Hogenhuis, Ben van Gelder, Sean Fasciani and Mark Schilders.
Our third (as of yet unnamed) record will be released at Paradox on April 2nd and the Bimhuis on April 5th, 2014. More dates to be announced soon. Special guests Harmen Fraanje, Joris Roelofs and I were a guest on Dutch TV show Vrije Geluiden (scroll to 0:32) on sunday. Last night, I was interviewed for Radio 1’s Met Het Oog Op Morgen (scroll to 0:45) by Eva Jinek, Holland’s most charming radio and TV persona (seen here, handling a snake).
