SMASH HITS with Ben van Gelder and the Metropole Orkest is about to be released on Basta Music (!!). This record is a live registration of our 2016 show in Amsterdam and our 2017 show in Utrecht, with the orchestra conducted by Christian Elsässer. Our collaboration with the multiple Grammy Award-winning orchestra is, without a doubt, probably the highlight of my career. Hearing the orchestra play with no holds barred feels like someone is screaming “I love you” in your face. Someone who means it. Ben van Gelder sounds extra extra, and arrangers Gerd Hermann Ortler, Rob Horsting, Daniel Jamieson and Christian Elsässer have magnified our compositions in ways that go beyond our wildest imaginings. Saxophone colossus Benjamin Herman has started a band with legendary punk drummer Olav van den Berg, and Yours Truly is proud to be one fourth of the line-up. A duo record with Ben van Gelder is in the making and due for release in the spring of 2019. We’re currently booking a March 2019 duo tour of New Zealand and Australia. Kit Downes will be involved in a number of release shows in Holland and the UK in May and June. More news soon!
A registration of the highlights of the GIGANTIC CHAMBER MUSIC MINI FESTIVAL including my first String Quartet will be released in the form of an EP in 2019.
I’ve started uploading brand new ONE MINUTE COMPOSITIONS, sketches and improvisations to Instagram on a weekly basis. I will record 40 of these compositions for an upcoming record entitled ‘Minute Music’. You can support the project by pre-ordering the CD or LP (due for release in early 2020).
